VISUM goes Strasbourg
It´s time for a VISUM Daytrip!
So why not join us on a trip to the exciting city of Strasbourg, located just across the German-French border in the beautiful Alsace region!
To get to know the city also known as “capital of Europe”, we’ll start with a guided walking tour of the historic city center. Afterwards, we’ll enjoy a boat ride and discover Strasbourg from a different perspective. In the afternoon you'll have the choice of some more impressive sights, such as the Cathedral. You´ll also have time to discover Strasbourg´s shops and enjoy a coffee in the famous and charming quarter “La Petite France”.
When? Saturday, Oktober 13th (all day)
Costs: 32 € including trip by bus from Mannheim to Strasbourg and vice versa, guided city tour, boat ride

One of our best events in the semester is coming up on Tuesday! The International Dinner! Your chance to try dishes from all over the world at once. Just prepare something small from your home country it can be a drink, something savory, a dessert or whatever comes into your mind as long as it is eatable or drinkable :)

Dear exchange student,
do you prefer chili over wasabi or vice versa? Do you want to try Korean Kimbap or French Quiche Lorraine? Now is the time to do so!
At our International Dinner you can taste a variety of culinary specialties while offering delicacies from your home country! What do you have to do?
Meet in small groups with your compatriots, prepare food that is typical for your country, and bring traditional drinks.
The idea is to exchange food, so we ask you to bring something if you would like to participate. You don’t need to bring a lot. It should just be sufficient for everyone to try some.

You like to learn French or just love to speak French? Then come to our VISUM Café Lingua French! There you can practice your French together with native speakers and simultaneously teach them to speak German with a lot of games, sweets and fun.

Get to know 12 people in one evening and "eat your way" through Mannheim.

You would like to get to know people from all over the world?
You like to try international food? Then take part in the VISUM Running Dinner!
This is how it works: Get together with your buddy or find a partner you would like to cook with and register for the Running Dinner before the deadline! We'll tell you which course (starter, main dish or dessert) you will be preparing. On Tuesday the week after, you will have a delicious three course menu. Each course will take place at a different location where you get to meet four NEW people!! (So you will have each course with four new and totally awesome people)

The "Rules":
1. Find a partner who is going to cook with you.
2. Sign up as a team until Friday on time
3. When you sign up please let us know where you are going to cook (We need your address - this is very important!!!)
4. On Monday before the Running Dinner we will inform you, which course you are going to cook and where you will eat the other courses.
5. On the day of the dinner you will eat every course with 2 other teams. After each course the teams move on to eat the next course with completely different teams.
6. This means you will get to know 12 people in one evening and "eat your way" through Mannheim

Es ist Zeit für einen VISUM Tagestrip!
Ziel ist Straßburg im benachbarten Elsass, direkt hinter der Deutsch-Französischen Grenze gelegen.
Um die Stadt, die auch gerne als “Hauptstadt Europas” bezeichnet wird, besser kennen zu lernen, starten wir mit einer Stadtführung durch die historische Altstadt und haben bei der Bootstour danach die Möglichkeit, Straßburg auch aus einer anderen Perspektive zu entdecken. Am Nachmittag können weitere kulturelle Sehenswürdigkeiten besichtigt werden, wie beispielsweise das Straßburger Münster. Entdecke die vielen Geschäfte der Straßburger Altstadt oder genieße einen Kaffee im berühmten und charmanten “La Petite France” Viertel.

Am Dienstag folgt dann eines unserer besten Events im Semester! Nur an diesem Abend habt ihr die Chance verschiedene Gerichte aus aller Welt auf einmal zu probieren.
Bringt einfach eine Kleinigkeit zu essen oder zu trinken mit, es muss auch nichts Großes sein oder sehr aufwendiges sein.
Möchtet ihr koreanisches Kimbap oder französische Quiche Lorraine probieren?
Jetzt könnt ihr sie ausprobieren! Beim internationalen Dinner könnt ihr Speisen und Getränke aus aller Welt kosten und gleichzeitig typisches Essen aus eurem Land vorstellen!
Was müsst ihr machen?
Findet euch in Ländergruppen zusammen, bereitet etwas Landestypisches zu und bringt nach Möglichkeit auch noch traditionelle Getränke mit.
Die Idee ist, sich gegenseitig landestypische Spezialitäten vorzustellen. Wenn ihr am Dinner teilnehmt, bringt bitte auch selbst etwas mit. Ihr müsst nicht allzu viel zubereiten, aber soviel, dass jede/r etwas probieren kann.

Du lernst und liebst die französische Sprache? Hast aber selten oder gar keine Sprachpraxis? Dann besuche unser VISUM Café Lingua Französisch! Hier hast du die Möglichkeit, in einer entspannten Atmosphäre mit Spielen und Süßigkeiten dein Französisch zu üben und zu verbessern und gleichzeitig französischen Muttersprachlern zu helfen, ihr Deutsch zu verbessern. Um euch ein Ausblick auf eins unserer zukünftigen Events zu geben – am Dienstag den 02. Oktober ist unser Running Dinner! Vorspeise, Hauptspeise und Nachtisch.
Bei jedem Gang wird die Location gewechselt und ihr trefft auf 4 neue Teilnehmer.
1 Nacht, 3 Gänge, 12 neue Leute
Ihr habt Lust nette neue Leute zu treffen und dabei die Küchen anderer Länder kennen zu lernen? Dann macht mit beim VISUM Running Dinner!
Und so funktioniert's: Ihr schnappt euch euren Buddy oder einen anderen Partner, mit dem ihr zusammen kochen wollt und meldet euch vor der Deadline an. Per Email erfahrt ihr, ob ihr die Vorspeise, Hauptspeise oder den Nachtisch zusammen kocht. Am Dienstag danach werdet ihr dann in den Genuss eines 3-Gänge-Menüs kommen. Bei jedem Gang wird die Location gewechselt und ihr trefft auf 4 neue Teilnehmer.

Die "Regeln":
1. Ihr findet euch zu zweit zusammen.
2. Meldet euch als Team rechtzeitig an
3. Gebt bei der Anmeldung an, bei wem ihr kochen werdet (Das ist sehr wichtig!)
4. Am Montag davor erhaltet ihr die Info, welchen Gang ihr kochen werdet und bei welchen Teams ihr die anderen Gänge zu euch nehmen werdet.
5. Am Abend selbst esst ihr jeden Gang mit 2 weiteren Teams zusammen. Nach dem jeweiligen Gang ziehen die Teams weiter, um den nächsten Gang bei und mit völlig anderen Teams zu essen.
6. Das heißt ihr lernt 12 Leute an einem Abend kennen und habt euch essender Weise einmal quer durch Mannheim bewegt.
